Allgemein (ICAO)

ICAO Annex 2 §4.1 / Appendix 3: VFR ist nur in VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions) zulässig. VMC-Minima variieren je nach Luftraum­klasse und Höhe.

Europa (EASA / EU)

SERA.5001 — VMC Visibility and Distance from Clouds

Luftraum-Klassen A, B, C, D, E (kontrolliert)

• Bei oder unter 10.000 ft AMSL: Sicht 5 km, Wolken­abstand 1500 m horizontal / 1000 ft vertikal.
• Über 10.000 ft AMSL: Sicht 8 km, Wolken­abstand 1500 m horizontal / 1000 ft vertikal.

Luftraum-Klassen F, G (unkontrolliert)

• Oberhalb 3000 ft AMSL oder 1000 ft AGL (whichever higher): Sicht 5 km, Wolken­abstand 1500 m horizontal / 1000 ft vertikal.
• Unterhalb 3000 ft AMSL oder 1000 ft AGL: Sicht 5 km, Clear of Clouds und mit Sicht zum Boden.

Spezial-Luftraum G (low-speed Operations)

Unter 3000 ft MSL/1000 ft AGL: Boden ständig in Sicht; Flugsicht mindestens 1,5 km, wenn die angezeigte Geschwindigkeit weniger als 140 kt; clear of clouds ("below 3000 ft MSL/1000 ft AGL: Ground in sight continuously; Flight visibility of at least 1.5 km, if the indicated airspeed is less than 140 kts; clear of clouds").

Spezial-Klasse C VFR Visibility

Sicht 8 km bei und über FL 100 / 5 km unter FL 100; Distanz von Wolken 300 m vertikal / 1.5 km horizontal; max 250 kt IAS unter FL 100; ATC-Freigabe; Funküberwachung; Trennung von IFR-Flügen; ATC; Verkehrs­information VFR/IFR-Flüge (Ausweich-Empfehlungen auf Anfrage) ("flight visibility 8 km at and above FL 100 / 5 km below FL 100; distance from clouds 300 m vertically / 1.5 km horizontally; max. 250 kt IAS below FL 100; air traffic control clearance; radio monitoring; separation from IFR flights; air traffic control; traffic information VFR/FR flights (evasion recommendations on request)").

CTR — Sondersituationen

Notwendige Voraussetzungen zum Eintritt in eine Kontrollzone (CTR) unter VFR: Flugsicht mindestens 5 km, Wolken­abstand mindestens 1500 m horizontal und 300 m vertikal, zusätzliche 5 km Bodensicht, Wolken­untergrenze nicht niedriger als 1500 ft AGL, und die entsprechende ATC-Einheit hat Freigabe erteilt ("necessary preconditions to enter a control zone under VFR: Flight visibility is at least 5 km, the distance from clouds is at least 1500 m horizontally and 300 m vertically and an additional 5 km of surface visibility prevail, the ceiling is not lower than 1500 ft AGL and the appropriate air traffic control unit has given permission").

Spezial: Sicht 800 m unter 3000 AMSL

Flugsicht 800 m unter 3000 ft AMSL oder 1000 ft AGL ("flight visibility 800 m below 3000 ft AMSL or 1000 ft AGL") — für sehr niedrige langsame Operations (Glider, Helicopter) in spezifischen Klassen — gilt mit Auflagen.

Deutschland (national)

SERA gilt direkt. Nationale Spezifika in LuftVO §28 weitgehend deckungsgleich.
